Hi all -

The advertised Kirsten (although I really think she's an AGOT with blond hair and blue eyes) that I got thru a BIN about a month ago is supposed to be a Christmas gift. Unfortunately, she really stinks of smoke still. I tried febreeze, dryer sheets, airing her, and she still stinks.

Can someone fill me in on how you machine wash the dolls body and stuffing? I'm getting desperate enough to try anything to get rid of the smell. She's really adorable besides the fact that she really smells like smoke!

    Thanks!

    Linda

I remove the head, and then remove all the stuffing. Wash the body by hand and drip dry. Put new stuffing in after it drys. Tie the head back in.

While you have her apart and unstuffed, you might want to familiarize yourself with the way her joints work, just in case they ever get loose and you want to try your hand at repairing them yourself.

I run the body through the dryer, as well. However, it's in a pillowcase, and I tie the arms and legs together with an elastic hair tie. I just did this to Anastasia's body last night, and she was put back together this morning.

It still seems like doll abuse, though.

you can take the head off, put her in a delicate laundry bag and wash her without taking out the stuffing. It takes a bit for them to air dry, but it works well. Here is the link for the hair restoration site that has the washing temp etc.

    Good luck!

I washed stinky Kaya's body twice in the machine without removing the stuffing. For the stench on the vinyl I sprayed it with lysol and washed her hair. Happy restoring
